  • I've been to some places w/ bad service before, but not like this. Usually the types of joints I frequent that have slow service end up being because they are understaffed.

But not the Stockholm Inn. Nope, I counted no less than 3 waitresseseses lurking in our general vicinity doing everything BUT waiting on us. They pushed around little sweepers, wandered around in circles, I think one was knitting a sweater (although it could have been mittens). Miraculously a waitress I had not seen the whole time emerged from the depths of pancake hell to serve us after an agonizing 20 minutes in which I was forced to make small talk w/ Shawn & Nate.
The ribs w/ sauerkraut were pretty good, but not 40-minutes-till-you get-to-eat-'em good.

I hear they have good breakfast there, but I'm most likely never gonna find out, 'cause I generally don't have time to wait 'till lunch to get it.

  • I used to only go to Stockholm Inn when my grandparents came to town...EVERY time they came to town. We'd all meet up, eat, swap stories, take pictures and away we went...bellies full of glorious pancakes!

    This time was different.

Grandpa is gone, Nate dresses a hair more stylish than my Grandma's friend Ruby and I didn't have pancakes.

What I did have (my wife coined it the "white boy's special") was tremendous. For starters, I had BOTH a salad and soup. My meal, consisted of pork ribs, sauerkraut AND cottage cheese. This white boy was in heaven! The amount of food that I was served rivals the portions your get at Cracker Barrel.

SOME ADVICE: While this place caters to more of an older crowd, be mindful of the fact that their staff almost seems to be waiting for patrons to die off rather than serve them. To say the service was slow would be like saying Hai Quynh had a kitchen full of people. Hmmm...maybe the dude there could show Stockholm Inn's thirty seven aimless waitresses what ONE Vietnamese can do!

  • More advice: Don't attempt to eat here between 4-5pm. Apparently, this is when old people eat, and they ALL eat here.
