Standard Chinese restaurant with a lunch buffet. Solid food, nothing much stands out, although I did give 'em an extra credit for having Shrimp Toast. There are "buy one get one free" coupons in the paper all over the place, so it's a cheap lunch date.
ADDED BONUS: If you're feeling extra frugal after your free lunch, there's a "Nothing over $1" store located across the parking lot!
Asian buffets are a dime a dozen and Yen Ching is not any different than the rest.
I used to be a HUGE fan of Yen Ching up until about six years ago. My wife's grandmother had died and we ordered Chinese takeout. Now, if you think that this is a story about (a) her ending up in the takeout or (b) said takeout killing her...stop reading. You'll be sadly disappointed.
Long story short, you've heard the "waiter, there's a fly in my soup" anecdote...well, there was a fly in my chop suey. That little bugger grossed me out something fierce (and I'm known to not let bugs in my food bother me, right, Taco John)...and I vowed to never, EVER go back.
But, I did...at half price.
SOME ADVICE: As Ryan pointed out, there are coupons out there to be had. We had two so that meant a better deal for the IDS (but still, $6.50 apiece).
Welcome to the official blog of the International Dining Society. Originally founded in 1932 by two brothers, the IDS was resurrected in 2005 and has been going strong ever since! The goal...to find interesting lunch options on which to dine and to spread the word of said options to the masses who struggle with the day to day choices of McDonald's versus Burger King.
