This was the official first week out for the IDS. I had the "Fricase de Pollo" which, if my Spanish serves me, roughly translates to "Awesomely Fantastical Chicken". The meal consisted of three chiken legs simmered in a tomato-ish sauce w/ green peppers & onions. Rice, fried plantains & a big ol' bowl of black beans were served on the side. Since it was over two months ago, I'm not sure how much it cost, but I think it was around $6.50.
ADDED BONUS: The waitress didn't understand anything Shawn requested.
I had never had a Cuban sammich, much less thought I would ever want one. However...I crave one nightly now!
The sammich was huge (Ryan had the other half a day later) and was only five bucks. Two types of meat (pulled pork and ham), cheese, mustard and pickles in between two ginormous slices of heaven is worthy of a return stop.
SOME ADVICE: Don't look the big burly dude that works there directly in the eyes as I think he'll kill you and use your lifeless body as a means for transporting the rest of his family up from Cuba. Now...I'm not worried about him killing you, I just don't need to see the Yankees get another Cuban pitcher out of the deal.
Welcome to the official blog of the International Dining Society. Originally founded in 1932 by two brothers, the IDS was resurrected in 2005 and has been going strong ever since! The goal...to find interesting lunch options on which to dine and to spread the word of said options to the masses who struggle with the day to day choices of McDonald's versus Burger King.

It is fitting that on the day that we went to see Ryan off...we discovered that El Cubano had closed their doors.
Viva la Resistance, El Cubano...you're beautifullly HUGE sammiches at a low, low price will be missed.
